Surfside Beach
Welcome to the Town of Surfside Beach, SC, known as “The Family Beach”! Our small seaside community in the heart of South Carolina’s Grand Strand area is the perfect vacation destination for families seeking a laid-back, child-friendly environment. Surfside Beach offers something for everyone, with 2 miles of pristine beach, a temperate climate, and numerous attractions.
Unlike the high-rise-filled waterfronts of some resort areas, Surfside Beach has a more residential feel. People actually live here, and the family-friendly atmosphere is a direct result. Even though most of the rental properties are concentrated near the ocean, don’t miss the area’s numerous parks and lakes, many of which offer public access.
At the intersection of Surfside Drive and Ocean Boulevard lies the Surfside Pier, which represents the town’s geographic and social center. It has attracted several unique restaurants to its immediate vicinity, including River City Café and Bubbas Fish Shack, catering to adults and kids with great food and good times.
For families seeking even more adventure, Surfside Beach is home to one of the Grand Strand’s premier attractions – Wild Water and Wheels Family Fun Park. From high-speed gravity-defying slides to an enormous wave pool to the relaxing 950-foot lazy river, there’s something for everyone.
The history of Surfside Beach is rich and varied, with “The Ark Plantation” once covering much of what is now Surfside Beach. After its division and development, the area became known as Roach’s Beach and then Floral Beach before eventually becoming Surfside Beach.
Today, Surfside Beach is a thriving residential community and popular vacation destination, with public parking and walkways to the beach, government offices, and numerous amenities. Come see for yourself why Surfside Beach proudly proclaims itself as “The Family Beach” – it’s all right here!
